History & Philosophy
Davidson, Dawson & Clark LLP was founded in 1949 by Sidney W. Davidson, Leslie D. Dawson, and Ben R. Clark, who practiced together for more than twenty years. Their objective was to provide high quality representation to a limited number of discriminating clients who recognized the advantages of a personal and continuing attorney-client relationship. They sought to provide careful and thoughtful legal services that would anticipate and avoid legal or tax problems rather than simply solve them. This philosophy is the foundation upon which the firm's practice has grown.
Although a close personal relationship often develops between our client and partners, each client is a client of the firm and all of our attorneys are available as needed to provide experienced counseling and service in their respective areas of expertise.
While the firm values its tradition of personal service to clients, its use of technology is thoroughly up-to-date. A well-trained staff using modern equipment, software and communication technology assures the efficient production of legal work. Computerized timekeeping procedures provide accurate and detailed statements of time charges and disbursements which permit each client and the firm to monitor professional expense closely.
Scope of the Practice
We have broadened and strengthened the traditional areas of practice of the firm (relating to services to individuals and fiduciaries) to meet our clients' needs in increasingly complex areas of the law. This growth is ongoing but has been managed so that our firm will continue to maintain the integrity and congeniality so important to our founders.
A Multi-State Practice
In addition to our main office in New York City, the firm has offices in New Canaan, Connecticut, and Darien, Connecticut. Most of the partners and counsel are admitted to practice in New York; five are also admitted in Connecticut, and others are admitted in Florida and Massachusetts. We have close working relationships with leading law firms and other professionals nationally and internationally on whom we can call whenever circumstances require. |
